Every morning for three years I spent many hours painting in a cellar – a place with no windows, no view, no connection – in Villefranche-sur-Mer. I needed solitude to find my own ground.
My life changed significantly with the loss of my cherished father. I began to ask myself metaphysical questions about the purpose of our existence: What are we? Who are we? Where are we going?
